Blue-winged Pitta
Pitta moluccensis
Identification : A beautifully colored bird with a rainbow-like plumage. It is slightly less shy than other pitta species and can even be found in public parks, especially during migration periods. Its back is green, with a bright blue wing patch, an orange belly, and a prominent black facial mask. Outside of the breeding season, it is often seen foraging alone, hopping on the ground and flipping over dry leaves in search of food. Its call is a repeated two-syllable waew-waew! sound.
